RULES AND REGULATIONS – INITIAL ROUNDS
1.
Song time limit for each song is 6 minutes. Songs going over the 6 minutes time limit will be cut off. Judges will be instructed to deduct points.
2.
Contestants will be allowed to sing TWO songs (Contestant’s Choice – One from years 2000-2008; and Second One from 1950s – 1980s). The first one with KARAOKE (Contestant’s Choice); and second one WITHOUT KARAOKE or ANY MUSICAL INSTRUMENT.

Contestants may sing the same song as another contestant. Songs containing vulgar or explicit lyrics will not be allowed. Judges reserve the right to refuse.

Contestants will sing one judged song. If at the end of the first judged song there is a tie, the contestants, who are tied for first place only, will sing another judged song. Contestants are not allowed to repeat the song used for the first judged song. Should this method not break the tie, the judges will decide a winner.
5.
A contestant may enter preliminary contest and once a contestant has qualified for the initial contest, that contestant WILL NOT have choice to re-contest.
6.
Contests are divided into two music categories: 1. Male 15 and up; and 2. Female 15 and up.

Contestants, their family or associates are not allowed to have contact with a contest judge before or during any contest connected with ATA-TeluguOne Star Search. Contact includes verbal conversations.
8.
The order in which each contestant competes shall be determined by random drawing.
9.
Contestants will be scored in the INITIAL ROUNDS using a 30 point system: Vocal Ability - rhythm 10; pitch/ 10; phrasing 10 points

Decisions of the judges are final. No further reviews are allowed.

Participants entered into ATA-TeluguOne Star Search, Cinema Paatala Poti may be invited to contest dates within next two weeks between January 21, 2008 and May 15, 2008. All initial contests are expected to conclude no later than May 15, 2008 and the winners will move to Quarter and Semi Finals between May 15, 2008 and June15, 2008. All Semi-Finalists who are expected to participate in FINALS at ATA-2008, should register for admission to ATA, and should bear their travel and lodging costs and other expenses. ATA and TeluguOne do not bear any obligation to pay/reimburse for any expenses incurred by the contestants.
THESE RULES MAY BE CHANGED OR MODIFIED AT ANY TIME BY ATA CULTURAL COMMITTEE.
HOW TO ENTER
Candidates must submit their entries digitally at: http://teluguoneradio.com/tori/StarSearchEntry.jsp (this is the preferable option) or mail to the address on this form to arrive no later than 1 March, 2008. All contestants must provide the following information:
A completed entry form with personal data such as contact info.
Upload (or mail) audition songs in mp3 format (bit rates 128 bps or less) via website. Recording must be made by the candidate under normal studio level conditions.
Upload (or mail) a photo (for publicity purposes: preferably not a passport photo)
A short (100-150 words) biographic profile.
NOTIFICATION: Upon the preliminary screening of the audition songs, ATA volunteers will contact eligible contestants. During the preliminary rounds, quarter-finals and semi-finals the participates should be prepared to make themselves available for the contests on Saturday afternoons.
CONTEST AND BROADCAST TIMINGS
The contest is expected to begin in the 3rd week of February. Recoding and judging will be done Saturday afternoons (US Eastern Time) and its broadcast will be made on TeluguOne Radio, TORI on the following Sunday. More details about this will be provided in the coming days.
GENERAL DISCLAIMER
The organizers of ATA-TeluguOne Star Search reserve the right to refuse any entry without giving reasons. The judges have the right to stop any candidate’s performance at any stage of the competition. Marks are awarded, and may be withheld, at the jury’s sole discretion. The judges’ decisions are final. The organizers reserve the right to record or broadcast any part of the preliminary rounds, quarter/semi-final or final contests without royalty payments to the participants or their related parties.
The organizers will conduct the contest in a professional and civil manner. The contestants are expected to cooperate with the organizers by maintaining civility and not resorting to unruly conduct - prior to, during or after the contest.
RETURN OF RECORDINGS AND PHOTOS: All materials submitted including recordings and photos become the property of ATA; ATA and TeluguOne could use the performances and the information provided for promotional purposes. Recordings and photos submitted by the contestants may be returned at the conclusion of the competition, if requested by the candidate with appropriate expenses are paid by the candidate.
